My grandfather Stanley Thomas Brooks was placed in this orphanage as a young boy. He was born in McDowell N.C. in 3 March 1897. He later moved to Pickens, South Carolina. His father's name may have been Jason with brothers James and John, not sure if Brooks was his correct last name as we think his father placed him there because he was running from the law.
