My grandmother told us that she and her 3 siblings were placed temporairly in an orphanage in the Atlanta area about 1907 while their father took their mother home to Michigan where she died of cancer of the stomach. He returned less than a year later and picked them up. What orphanages were in operation in 1907. Their name was Stoddard and she was only 5 years old.
