My father, Richard Gallagher born Blaydon, 1915 was placed in an orphanage after the death of his mother,Elizabeth (nee Woods)around 1920-29. It was in the local area , as he frequently ran away to his Aunty's house nearby in Winlaton. Does anybody know where I might find information about these institutions at that time?
