Archie Benham, Nebraska, unknown county
According to the SSDI, Archie Benham was issued his number in Nebraska. Would like further info on Archie, such as 1910, 1920, 1930 censuses. Would like to know if married and/or had children. Thanks for any help Archie was the son of Archibald Benham and Annie Kelly. The last time I found him with parents was in 1905 in Elmira, Chemung, New York.Archie was born in 1901. In 1910, I find the parents but no children. Archie had siblings John and Jeannette.

Re: Archie Benham, Nebraska, unknown county
Hi NelliBlu, thank you for this reply and the associated links. It would appear that I would have no hope of obtaining marriage information unless I am a child of this person. I now know that he was married 3 times probably in Nebraska. thanks

Can you give us more info about his life in Nebraska? I'll do some searching for you if you wish. Steve

Hi Steve, I have learned much since I first posted this. The most important thing was that Archie along with his 2 siblings was taken down to the Southern Tier Orphan's home in Elmira, Chemung, New York on March 14, 1907. On Oct 8, 1909 Archie and his siblings arrived on the Orphan Train in Plainview, Pierce Co., Nebraska. The newspaper article says that Archie was taken in by Fred Young of Plainview so should be with him in 1910 I would think but we didn't find him. Archie's brother John was taken in by Edward Wilmarth and he was found on the 1910 with the Wilmarth family.Jeanette was taken in by Rev. F.M.DeWeese but I didn't find her either as I don't have access to the censuses myself. It appears that Archie stayed in Nebraska, being later placed with John Sargeant, until Archie joined the army in 1918. After that, Archie travelled to many different states until his death in Minnesota in 1972. Archie did get his SSN in Nebraska according to familysearch. I have learned that Archie was married 4 times, none of them in Nebraska. So all I can think of at this time is possibly the 1910 census, if you have access to that. Thank you so much for your offer.

I did peruse the Orphan Train site and sent a couple emails to volunteer researchers of the Iowa site looking for Jeanette in 1915 as it is believed she was there in 1915. I guess Plainview didn't work out. No replies as yet. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Archie Benham, Nebraska, unknown county
Take a look at Familysearch.org--how sure are you about his birth date and place? Several items look like they could be him. Just put Nebraska in the residence blank and you will see what I mean. Good luck. One person of that name has a guardian named Sargent and another seems to have been married to a McNunn or similar name. I have Heritagequest and could look for some censuses if needed.

Go to each county's genweb page and see if "lookups" is one of the listed services.
