I'm looking for the history of a boy reported as adopted by the Jacob Harman family in Poweshiek County, Iowa on the 1880 census. His name on that census was Ruck Terang, age 18, born in Italy. The rest of his life he went by Rook/Rooke Harman/Harmon, born 3 Mar 1862 in Italy. On a later census he states that he immigrated in 1870. Family stories are that he came to America with a youth orchestra and stayed. Then he was living in New York and working for someone who mistreated him so he ran away. We have wondered if he was sent on one of the Orphan Trains in the 1870's. Any answers or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Linda
