Hi Rose just read your enquiry and had a similiar story that happened to my mother while in Germany. My mom had to leave my 3 sisters in a children's home because she could not take care of them while she delivering me in a Hamburg Hospital. She did come back to pick up only 2 of my sisters because my oldest sister was sick and unable to travel to Canada. We were all processed in the DP Camps to go to Canada where my dad was waiting for us. The information I got from my mom about my sister that was left behind was she would be coming later when she got better. She died only 3-6 months after our arrival in Canada. Did you have any luck in finding the name of the Children's Home you were in? Do these homes still exist? How would you go about finding these homes or records about them?
I sure would like to find out where my sister was buried.
You must be about my age as well. My maiden name was Ingrid Kadis (Resnik)
