My family were of the understanding that our Granddad, Arthur Montague Foster went to Canada as a BHC in 1909, aboard the Tunisian. His two brothers Albert and Sidney went in 1906. Barnado's have informed me that the Arthur Foster who emigrated to Canada was not my Grandfather which then leaves me wondering if he didn't go at all or if he did when and with whom??? His mother died in 1904 in Faversham, Kent. We don't know what happened to his father Edwin William Foster. Barnado's also informed me that Arthur Montague Foster was in the Faversham work house until 1905 when he apparently went to live with his Aunt, a Mrs Foster of 10 Shakespeare Road, Sittingbourne, Kent, UK. Is there anyone who could do a look up in the 1911 Census to either confirm or deny his living in the Uk at that time. Also is there anyone who knows of other agencies who sent children out to Canada. Apparently Barnado's hold the records for MacPherson Homes, Marchmont Home, Liverpool Sheltering Home and Sharman's Home and my granddad was not in any of these records for emigration to Canada. I am afraid I have hit a huge brick wall and would love your help in establishing the whereabouts of my Granddad after 1905 up to 1919. I very much appreciate any help given. Many thanks. Jenny Gray ( nee Foster). NZ.

Re: Arthur Montague Foster
Hi KobieHarris1, Many thanks for your assistance with my request which has been most helpful. Yes, Edwin William Foster did have a sister Rosa Foster ( maiden name) who it would appear married Charles Forster. I'm hopeful now that we have at last discovered that our Grandad never went to Canada as did his two brothers, Albert and Sidney. Thanks you once again.
