Thursday, February 23, 1911
The Barnardo Home boy named Walker, who caused great excitement at Mrs. Curphey’s, north of Shelburne, a couple of weeks or so ago, by secreting himself in the hay mow for three days (being afraid he would be sent back to the Home for ill-treating a horse), turning up with his feet rather badly frozen, was taken to the Home by Medical Inspector Wilson and is apparently getting along all right, for Dr. Wilson writes to Mrs. Curphey under date of Feb. 17: “His feet are getting along very well and he is walking a little on them now, but complains some yet. He has a great dread of being sent back to England. I have assured him that he will only get one more chance.”
