I don't think we knew each other. I grew up in Chicago. Who are you? Where did you grow up.
My mother is Elizabeth. (My name is Tasha.) She ultimately passed of heart failure, but her health has been VERY bad for over a decade due to diabetes. She was blind and on dialysis for eight years.
Val (my aunt) had breast cancer.
Katherine (my baba) had lung cancer. (No, she didn't smoke.)
George (my didi) either had a stroke or heart attack.

I saw you a few times when you were a baby, and then I saw a few pix of you when you were about 5. Beautiful child.
I was at your mom's wedding and I stayed over at their house many, many times when I was a little girl. Val and Elizabeth were so good to me. My own parents were abusive.
George and Katherine were good to me too. Spent many Christmases with them at an apartment on Cortez, I think, in Chicago. Do you know anything about your grandparents background? How they came to the US? Their story? It would help me to piece together my background, as my mother said very little about it and I know there were concentration or labor camps involved.
I have no family except daughters.....my husband of 26 years had an illness and committed suicide recently. It's very hard. Especially when finances are tough. My daughters lost a father so we really can't help each other.
I am so sorry to hear of your mom and Val and your grandparents. I was so hoping to get together with them one day and thank them for all they did for me.
Also, fill me in on how you are! Elizabeth was so proud when you came along!

I realize I am replying to an old post, but "mirogirl" we are related. I'm 99% sure your husband's grandfather is my 1st cousin. I was from Chicago area. Relatives lived in Ukrainian district.
The Miroshnichenko you speak of was my grandfather. Some documents included the "t" but not correct. I have original copy of immigration papers to US, that is where the "t" error occurred.
