Hoping someone can help me identify the parents of JAMES F. GLENN, b: 1815, Laurens Co., SC. The "F" possibly stands for Francis. He married #1 unk., #2 Mary Jane Mitchell in 1846. They were listed in the 1850 Laurens Co., SC census record, but by 1860 had moved to AL. Family stories say this family (parents or grandparents) of James F. Glenn, came from PA to SC. It is also said that they are Scotish. I believe James F. may have had several brothers, possible names: Mathew Hasten, William, and David. Any help will be very much appreciated. Also, I am researching the FILES family (John Files, Rev. Soldier). I am trying to locate info on his son Manley A. Files, Sr. and his son Manley A. Files, Jr. Any help on this line will also be appreciated. Please respond: BRochevot@aol.com. Thanks.

James' brother, George M., migrated with his wife and children from South Carolina to Newton County, Georgia in 1835. Thereafter, they moved to Chickamauga f/k/a Crawfish Springs, Georgia, which is located in the northwest corner of the state.

My great, great grandfather was George M. Glenn who was born in 1794 in Laurens County, S.C. His parents were David and Elizabeth Glenn. The heirs to David's will (of which David's brother Francis served as its administrator)were his eight children: Anna, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Jane, JAMES, George M., John and David.

According to my grandmother's notes, David was one of three brothers that travelled with their father from Ireland to South Carolina after the death of the mother/wife. She was under the assumption for years that we were Irish. However, it seems that this branch of the Glenn family began in Scotland in the 1100's, migrated to Ireland in the 1600's and then to the U.S. via South Carolina in the 1700's.

Hi, my name is Kathryn Donald and I am researching my husband's family from South Carolina. Our family goes back to Margaret Matilda Glenn daughter of Col. John M. Glenn 1805-1854 & wife Elizabeth Barr Glenn 1808-unknown death date. I believe they were cousins. What I do know is they came from Scotland to Ireland to South Carolina (Laurens County) in the late 1700's. John M. Glenn's father was David Glenn 1773-1821 and Elizabeth Barr Glenn's father was Francis Franklin Glenn 1771-1824. I am hoping to find more details about their ancestors in Ireland and Scotland. Can you help? Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks, Kathryn Donald
