How to get started with application

Hello,
I'm just getting ready to possibly start my application process for SAR or DAR.
Silly question but do I have to join the SAR in order to get the application? Where do I get forms? Also when I pay what ever it costs if I need to prove something and they return it do I have to pay again? I just don't want to get into something that is an open ended charges.

I have a very old Family "NYE"there are many applications others have submitted already. Do I have to show that too or can I get to that point and they connect it? Not my family but farther back.

I was thinking I would provide DEATH/MARRIAGE for each as it's very hard to find birth back then. Do I need to send Census if I can't find two sources?

Any help would be so appreciated!

Thank you,
Cathie

Go to the organizations web site and use the listed email contact. They will put you in touch with a mentor to help you. It is only one fee for a given line even if you have to supply additional information. I.e. it is not open ended charges.

You only have to prove back to someone already proved in their database. For example if your 2nd cousin was accepted, you only have to provide proof back to your mutual great-grandfather.

If there were no birth certificates at the time, they do accept other reasonable documentation including censuses, wills, perhaps obituaries of the time if you can prove the newspaper.

So get in touch by the email and get that mentor.
