I have a huge brick wall in my family tree (on my wife's side). Her father was Ernest ROEBUCK b.1923 in Rotherham the illegitimate son of Annie ROEBUCK b.1905 Rotherham. There is no record of the father's name on his birth certificate. Also, Annie left home after Ernest was born, leaving him in the care of her brother Ernest ROEBUCK b.1900. Uncorroborated family anecdotes say Annie may have moved to London and was killed during the blitz. Alas I can find no record of her death or a marriage. Can anyone help please ??
