Thanks for the reply. As you say Horace probably adopted the name himself rather than it being a registered name.
The Cyril you mention aged 2 is my grandfather, he also passed away within a month of Horace. Unfortunately up until a few years ago when I took up family history I didn't know my grandad had other brothers. He actually had 3, Horace Redvers, Harold (who died under 1 year old) and Colin who I still know little about other than a marriage in the BMD records.
I see actually met Horace's wife Dorothy, I wonder if you happen to know roughly when she died as I noticed she is not in the same grave as Horace and also if you still know any of their decendants.
Thanks again for the help.
Peter.

I dont know exactly when DOROTHY died ,but she was about 86 according to her daughter in law.She remarried after Horaces death when she was in her sixties. When i went to the cemetary i just saw the grave by accident when the distinctive name of HR BULLER ALLEN ,BUT I could have sworn i saw Dorothys name on there .her daughter in law also thought she was buried with Horace and Dorothys daughterin law Eva all in the same grave.Iwill try to find out when she died,it may turn up.Inregard to descendants, you have Sally and Pat ,then there is Horace Malcolm and Trevor.

I realise that it is some time since you were making the above enquiry. If you are still following up the above, I thought that I might add some information. Horace died in 1955, as you are probably aware. He was married to Dorothy. They had 5 children : Kathleen, Sally (Alice), Pat, Malcolm & Trevor. They were living at 7 Wellgate Mount, Rotherham, at the time of his death. Dorothy re-married. Dorothy also had a son William (Bill), Windle, who was a professional footballer as a young man. Horace served as a Royal Marine. As has been mentioned by other comments; Redvers, (pronounced Reevers), Buller, saw action in the African campaigns, Zulu War, Boer War etc., ending his career as a General.
