I am a lapsed RFHS member and am still desperately looking for photographs of the wooden swing bridge that was situated across the canal between Eldon Road and Parkgate. Down the lane from Eldon Road, there were garages on the left; further down the lane there were allotments on the left and on the right a playing field (occasionally gypsies would set up their camp on this field); at the bottom of the lane was the River Don and I used to cross the Bailey Bridge (but we knew it as the Rattling Bridge) to get to my house on the left side. My name was then BAINES. The white painted swing bridge was next to cross, then the railway stepping bridge where we used to sit on the top and wait for steam trains to come along and we would be enveloped in the smoke - wonderful!! but dirty!! I have been looking for several years for photographs of the swing bridge and for the house, so if you have any please let me know and I'll happily pay for copies or postage.
