I wonder if anyone can look up a newspaper report for me please on my ggggrandfather Joseph Oxley. Joseph was born in 1809 in Rotherham and married Elizabeth Robinson who was born 1809 in Whiston. In 1841 Joseph was living in Westgate Rotherham with his wife and two sons Thomas born 1831 and Joseph born 1833. He worked as a brewer according to his son's marriage certificate. Joseph was killed on December 9th 1848 when he was hit by the shaft of a mashing machine. I think they may have used mashing machines in breweries, and there was a brewery in Westgate at that time. Joseph's place of death was Westgate. The death certificate was not issued until December 30th which indicates an inquest. Would be most grateful for any information on this matter. Thank you.
