I am searching for information about my 3 great grandparents, William and Rachel Shank.
This is all I have so far:
William [1814 Frederick Co MD - 1880's OH]
Rachel [1817 PA - 1880's OH or IN]

Their residences include:
1840 Montgomery Co OH
1850 Franklin Twp, Shelby Co OH
1860 Clinton Twp, Shelby Co OH
1870 Abington Twp, Wayne Co IN
1880 Center Twp, Wayne Co IN
William may have died in US National Homes for Disables Volunteer Soldiers in Dayton OH in mid 1880's.

Their children include Jacob [1840 OH] and Henry [1849 OH]

Rachel is the one I'm more interested in.
I don't know her maiden name or where in PA she was born.
I have a broach of hers with 7 gold stars on it and I'm wondering if there is any military significance to it.
