My father, when I was growing use to say that there use to be a hotel on one of the islands on the Ohio river. He said that people would have to row a boat over to the island to stay there. Before the company that took sand from the river, there was several islands along the Ohio around the Gallipolis area, according to my brother. I remember 2 when I was growing up. When I was back there a few weeks ago, I noticed there was only one now.
