Paulette, have you found any descendants to have spelled their name KOB? I am trying to find lineage for Martin Cope who signed his name Mardin Kob on his marriage bond. Martin married Catey Zacharice 5 July 1789 in Lincoln Co., KY. All descendants used the Cope spelling. Frederick Zacharia was the witness on the bond. I believe the name to have actually been Zacharias. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Elaine

I'm a descendant of a Jehu Kolb (born 24 Nov., 1781) from South Carolina who married Celia Barrett. Their daughter, Martha Easter Kolb, is my ggg-grandmother on my father's side. I've come across information that gives Jehu's father as Thomas Kolb (born 13 August, 1751 and married to Mary McDonald) and Jehu's grandfather as Diehlman "Tilman" Kolb (born about 1731 and married to Beersheba Watkins). I wanted to find out if my information was accurate.

Dear Paulette,
I am seeking informaton concerning Henry Culp and Nancy Ann Jordan Culp.

My great great grandmother was born in Chester Co., SC in about 1825. It has been difficult to establish her parents. Elizabeth Amanda Culp, "Betty", married Charles T. Polk in Chester Co., SC in 1846.

In the 1850 census of Chester Co. the closest Culp neighbors of Charles and Elizabeth were Henry Culp, who seemed to be widowed by 1850.

#951 Henry Culp 45
Julian Culp 28F
Malinda Culp 26F
Susannah Culp 24F
Uriah J. Culp 17M
J H H Culp 14m

#993 Charles T. Polk
Elizabeth Polk (d.o.b. abt 1826)

Some have listed a daughter of Henry and Nancy Jordan Culp as Elizabeth who married Thomas White. They removed to Alabama where she died about 1899. Their source designates your research. Can you tell me more about this Elizabeth?

The "hand-me-down" names leads me to think that my Elizabeth could be the daughter of the above Henry and Nancy Culp. Elizabeth and Charles named their youngest daughter Nancy Catherine in 1863. Also, Elizabeth and Charles' grandson, (my grandfather) was Henry Earl Polk.

Are you positive that Henry and Nancy's Elizabeth was the wife of Thomas White?

If this interests you, I would love to discuss this further.

Thank you

Roy Lee Polk
