I am seeking information about an ancestor who was
supposed to have been an "Arch Mason" When he died
at the age of 49 in 1851 in Peoria, Illinois, he was supposed
to have been buried at the masonic cemetery with the rites
of the order. I have found several Thomas Snows which were
masons, but the time frames don't fit. Thomas was born
in Massachusetts, graduated Brown University and taught
on Nantucket and at Milton Academy until 1833/34. He tried
his hand at business for 2 or 3 years in Indiana before going
to Kentucky for 12 years where he resumed teaching. in
1851 he moved to Peoria and died about 6 months later.
I am not sure when the early cemeteries closed, but Thomas
was reburied at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, with his wife and daughter in 1866.
