Is anyone familiar with an organization called the Alliance Marquette? I believe it may have been a social group for those of French or French-Canadian background. My greatgrandfather's funeral was under the auspices of this group in 1917 in Saginaw, MI. There were probably chapters in other cities as well. any info appreciated.

My Great Grandfather was apparently one of the founders of this association in Saginaw in the late 19th century. I am trying to find out more about the organization.

I have a Souvenir Program from Imperial Entertainment Club under the auspices Alliance Marquette Council No. 2, at Germania Hall Tuesday, February 12th, 1907 Phillip J. Lapine Author Director Manager. That night there was music, skits, a play, etc. I too am looking for information on this stuff. Was Germania Hall the now Germania Country Club? Have you found anything out since you posted your message? Thank you.

Yes. The Germania Hall and the Germania Country Club are the same organization. Like so much in the cities of Eastern Michigan it moved into the suburbs (perhaps) in the 1970s.
As far as I know it still functions.

My great great grandfather was a member, I found this on his obit.(1927) When he came to America from Canada he did not read or write English. When asked his name, it sounded like Moran so that is what was written. I do know this was not correct, maybe Marian?? so I was hopping to find the Alliance's records to see the spelling. This is a long shot but not sure what else to do. Any info, please keep me posted, thanks

Thanks very much for your notes. I have been trying to find the records of the Alliance but so far have had no luck. Since I do not live in the Saginaw area that has made it difficult.
I will continue to work on it and if I find out anything I will let you know. My phone number is 412-207-2939. I do know a bit about the organization and would be happy to help if I can.
