This is a "One Name" society. There are chapters all over the world. On August 18-29, 2015 the will be a Butler Society rally at Kilkenny Castle in Ireland. Hundreds of Butlers from all over the world will be there. Society fees are $20 per annum. You may find some help there. but they deal mostly with earlier history.
It may interest many of you to know the Butler name was started by a fitzWalter who was granted the position of Chief Butler of Ireland. It was he who assumed the political title as the family name in the 13th century.
It is claimed that if your name is Butler and you have any Irish blood, you are a descended from this family.
There is also a North American chapter but I'm having trouble accessing their site. There is also a Butler Family news letter currently in operation out of California.
Hope this helps. Maybe we'll meet at the rally!

Ines,
If you are a member you are welcome. Membership fee is $20 US, There is a membership application on their website. Look up The Butler Society of Ireland.
Currently about 700 members. About 200 to 300 will attend the rally..
The website also has video of previous rally's. The lectures are concerned with the Irish line currently in power and their past accomplishments.
The Butler family was once the most powerful family in Ireland and is still deeply involved with the current political structure.
What I'm looking forward to is visiting Killkeny Castle and possibly any other Butler Castle we can fit into our stay. There are a number of Butler castles in Europe and at least one more in Ireland.
Regards,
Michael
