This group is awesome. I had originally asked a simple question about naturalization paperwork and someone from this group was kind enough to respond. Being as they were from england and I'm not it was very helpful. He was very prompt and accurate, even providing me with references. Not only did i gain valuable information but i broke through a brick wall . I would highly recommend them.

For many years (20 or more) I have been trying to learn more about my "Walker" ancestors in Lancashire, England. This was based on my Great-Great-Grandfather's (Charles Walker, born 1818) US Citizenship papers, which indicated his place of origin was Lancashire, England. All I knew about Charles, was that he had at least 2 brothers (Thomas and Joseph) and his father was named John. This information was based on US census and other bits of information I found for them in their hometown of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. There were other "Walkers" in Tamaqua, however, I could never connect them to Charles. My hope was to find the town in Lancashire County, England where Charles came from and someday visit that place. During the first quarter of 2014, I placed a research request in the Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Societies Quarterly Magazine. Soon I was contacted by Robert Proctor and after a short period of time he asked if I was sure my ancestors came from Lancashire as he had found nearly exact matches for them elsewhere in England (Chiseldon, Wiltshire County). Robert was able to provide me confirming information about a family from Chiseldon, England which matched perfectly with what I know about Charles Walker. Perhaps Charles moved to Lancashire for a period of time looking for work? Robert found that Charles, along with his 7 brother and sisters and parents John and Ester, left Chisedon, England on the Brig Sea Flower and arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 22 August 1832. Since then I have contacted the Wiltshire Family History sites and learned that Ester was from a village near to Chilseldon, which is called Draycot Foliat. I cannot thank Robert enough for his time and knowledge and expertise in helping me with this request. I am so greatful!!! Someday I will visit Chiseldon and Draycot Foliat in Southern England, and I may even visit Robert in Lancashire to personally thank him.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Robert Procter from LFHHS for supporting me in the development of my family tree. My initial contact with him was some time ago when I was just starting to put together my family tree with a focus on the paternal side of the family. I was delighted to discover a potential relative. Robert provided me with key information then and helped me to include accurate information into my tree. Subsequently, he has allowed me to access his tree in order that I could develop my own and patiently pointed out my many duplications etc. In the last few days, as editor, he has amended added and generally updated my tree. I am very grateful for his expertise.

Thanks Robert for all the help you have given me. Your Procter/Proctor site is brilliant!
I also have many Proctors on my tree but mostly from Norfolk, Essex and Nottingham.
