Boy Scouts of America

I have been told by several family members that my late Uncle started / organized the first Boy Scout Troop in Audubon, Pennsylvania.

Did / do the Boy Scouts of America keep records on the history of each troop and their leaders? Is it possible to request copies of anything pertaining to my late Uncle and his leadership of this troop and the troop's history? Whom would I contact? National Headquarters / office? Or, City, town, county, or state office?

I have googled, but . . . still researching.

I know this is several years old, but you could start by contacting your local Council and see if they can give you a list of troops in your area and perhaps give you names of troops with long standing Charters. Each troop is sponsored by a "Charter" organization, such as a church, or other group. The Charter Organization "owns" the troop. Most Charter Organization know the history of their troops or maybe can help you find the troop you are looking for. Good luck!
