Howard Benevolent Society & Grant Question

I am in the process of beginning a preservation & restoration project for a rural pioneer cemetery that has been abandoned. It was not affiliated with any particular church to my knowledge.

One of the goals for this project is to research how the cemetery was originally organized. I found that the Howard Benevolent Society of Boston, MA owned the property & designated the area as a cemetery shortly following the first burial. I have begun my research on the society & have a fairly good start. I was wondering if anybody else has ever found ties between this organization & cemeteries.

Also, I have noticed on the various threads that there has been mention of obtaining grants for such projects. I have noted matching fund grants at our state historical society. I am looking for other options as well. When searching on-line, I noticed most grants for cemetery restoration were state specific. Does anybody have any ideas about where else I may search for information?

I would appreciate any information and help.

Best regards,
Wendy J. Fischbach
