Below you will see information for John Crary. I did not find a Samuel Cary. there were only three Cary men: one born 8/12/1758 NY, one born 4/2/1752 PA, and one born about 1751 in VA. I tried Samuel with surname Crary, but there were none. As far as Crary names, there were: Archibald, Benjamin, Christopher, Elias, Ezra, John, Joseph (one from RI and one from CT), two Nathan, Oliver, 2 Robert and William. All were born in CT with the exception of that one Joseph from RI. The one closes in birth date to Samuel Cary was Elias who was born in 1737.

What this means for Samuel is that no one has entered DAR using Samuel as her patriot ancestor. If Samuel is your ancestor, you can be the first to use him. If you want someone to contact you from a chapter local to you, let me know the city and state of your residence. There are women in the chapter who help ladies get their papers together properly.

Back to John. You can request one copy of one application paper and see what that one woman used for documentation to gain membership in DAR. Please send a letter with your contact info, and a least three generations of lineage from John toward yoursel and the info on John below for the paper you wish to order. You can ask for all applications or one or the newest or the one closest to your lineage.
