Hello. I have checked our DAR Patriot Index and did not find your Joseph Armando Breaux/Braux. There were two men with the surname Breaux, Pierre b 1749 and Firmin, b 1748. Both had service out of Louisiana.

By not finding Joseph, this only means that no woman since our founding in 1890 has joined DAR using him as her patriot ancestor. With continued documentation on your part, you could prove the line for a female in your family and she can use him to join. I do not know the requirement for SAR and how lenient they are with documentation, but you could use Joseph for your own SAR application.

If you would like someone in SAR or DAR to contact you about membership, let me know the city and state of your residene and we'll see that someone gets with you. There are three women in every DAR chapter whose job it is to assist prospective members. I would think there would be the equivilent in an SAR chapter.

Good Luck.
Mary
