Hi. I'm glad you found Zuriel was yours. As for proving the rest...well, that may take some work. My first suggestion, if I haven't said it previously, would be to order a copy of an application paper. I'll tell you how to do that in a minute. The other suggestion is to get Zuriel's pension application, if he had one. The 1789 Andrew had a child in 1810 which means he might have served in the War of 1812. There is a book of abstracts of those pension apps and microfilm of the pension applications to check on his family. 1810 A.J. may have served in the Civil War, given his age. If you are lucky, he might have a pension that will name kids. 1881 A.B. could be on state census with his folks, so that would tie him to 1854 Franklin. Deeds are also good in sometimes giving relationships. Sounds like you have a project on your hands!

Now for that record copy. If I've already told you this, you can just skip it. In a cover letter, tell the reader that your ancestor was Zuriel, then his son, then his son. The staff will try to match the first three generations as close as possible. Each application they find is $10. What you get in return is the four page application of one woman who used Zuriel as her patriot ancestor. That application should say what the documentation was to support the lineage the lady listed. You can then go and find that same documentation yourself. Should you get as far as doing an application for DAR membership yourself, you could reference the helping paper as a secondary source. The newer the paper is, the better likely the member was more complete in her documentation. When we started back in 1890, not much documentation was required.

So send that letter with a check for $10 made to Treasurer General NSDAR to Library Copy Services, NSDAR Headquarters, 1776 D Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20006-5303. It may take six to eight weeks for a reply. And you can get more than one, if you want, but each record copy does cost $10. You can also call the Registrar General's Office and find out how many there are and if any are close to your lineage. The main switchboard number there is 202-628-1776.

Good luck. Let me know if you have further questions about DAR membership.
