Look-up for James Rowe

My 5-great grandfather was James Rowe born about 1753 in Va. Some have him being born in Culpeper Co., Va. His wife was Elizabeth/ Betsy. I believe her last name was Tracey, but I'm not 100% sure about that. He moved to North Carolina in about 1776 after the birth of son Thomas. James had one son James Jr., who was born in North Carolina about 1777. He later moved back to Virginia, Botetourt County I believe. His son Solomon was born in Russell Co., Va. about 1779.
The only reason I mentioned the birth was to establish a time line for James Sr. I had found a James Rowe, who was a fifer, but I'm not sure if they are one in the same.
I read in another person's information that they had James Rowe Sr. as a Tory. All the information I've been able to find on him leads me to believe he was a patriot. If you could help me with this inquiry I'd greatly appreciated it, thank you.

C Nelson, thank you for your help in this matter. And I would be interested in joining the SAR and DAR for my daughters. My wife's grandmother's Wigal family also so had a Patriot in their direct line. He was Philip Wigal from Pennsylvania born about 1757. Would you know if there is an application on him as well?
And please let me know whom to contact in the Parkersburg WV area about submitting an application for my family. Again Thank You so much for your time and efforts.
Sincerely Clyde E. Rowe, Jr.

I (Clyde E. Rowe, Jr.) have two patriots that I and my daughters are connected to, Nathaniel Ratliff (pvt) and James Rowe (cpl) my 5th great grandfathers. My daughters are; Amanda Michelle Rowe age 21 and Emily Nicole Rowe age 16.
My wife (Lois Ann Hoffman) has one patriot whom she and my daughters would be connected, Philip Wigal, her 4th great grandfather.
So to recap, Amanda and Emily Rowe have Nathaniel Ratliff and James Rowe, their 6th great grandfathers from my side and Philip Wigal, their 5th great grandfather from their mother's side. Lois has only the one connect that we know about as her Hoffman side didn't arrive in this country until must later.
Thank you again for your help, if you need any more information you can e-mail me direct at bub4_60@yahoo.com and thank you again.
Sincerely Bubby Rowe

Hello Chris Ann, There are many of my Rowe Kin from McDowell Co. Although not my direct line, I have some information about them but not as much as my own line. I have few photos of the elder Rowe. What I have are on my myfamily.com page. I'm afraid I haven't seen your grandfather Richard or his father Salem's name in my research. That does mean we don't have common kin just that I haven't researched your line as of yet. I'd be glad to share what I have, when I'm back in town right now I'm working out of town and am only home on the weekends. My e-mail is bub4_60@yahoo.com contact me directly if you'd like. I'll check my records and get back to you here if I don't hear from you.
