Hello Elaine;
I looked in the NSDAR Patriot Index and yes you are right there are sevearl Samuel Clarks listed and of those there were 8 married to a Mary. But there are no Samuel Clarks born in the year of 1757. Have you checked to see if his wife Mary applied for a pension or his heirs? Just because we dont have him listed in the index doesnt mean he didnt fight, it just means that no one has applied for membership to the NSDAR.
Have you checked for any books on Connecticut Militia and their muster rolls? Or what he was paid? Did he get a bounty claim or was he paid with land for his services to CT?
Hope this helps and if we can help you again, please feel free to contact us.
Warmly,
Sara
