Hi Carol:

You are in luck. The DAR Patriot Index information:

John RUSSELL, Jr.: born Oct. 17, 1761 in Connecticut. He died May 22, 1843 in Connecticut. His spouse: Charity Evarts. He was a Sergeant on the Continental Line for the State of New York. He also received a PENSION. You can inquire at your Local Library if they have Library Loan and request the film and make copies of his pension papers.

Sorry, we do not have a John Russell born ca 1739. It doesn't mean that he didn't serve. Just no one has proven his line.

If you would like a copy of the application papers. Send a check payable to Treasurer General, NSDAR for $10. Send the Patriot information and the name of the son that you descend, to REGISTRAR GENERAL, NSDAR, Attn: Record Copy Dept.; 1776 D Street NW, Washington, DC 20006-5303.
Requests now take 6-8 weeks.

Wish you luck,
Barb
