Revolutionary ancestor Absalom Ellis (my 4g grandfather) b. abt 1755, Halifax Co., NC, died 5 November 1827, Wayne Co., NC. He married Phereba Merritt of Duplin Co., NC by Marriage Bond dtd 2 May 1780. She was born 1763, dead by November 1833 in Henry Co., TN.

He joined the Continental Army in Halifax County, North Carolina and I understand he served in a company commanded by Captain Harrison, and Captain Bradley.

Their Children were: Daniel b. ca 1784-1799, dead before his father; Leafy (my ggg grandmother) b. ca 1804, Sally b.?,d?, Theophilus b. ca 1796; Theresa b. ca 1800, m. John Charles; Joshua b. ca 1801, d. bef. 22 Feb 1875, m.27 November 1824 in Wayne County, NC Sarah Charles b. 29 April 1791, d. bef. 22 Feb 1875. Sarah Charles was the brother of John Charles.

I understand that daughter Leafy petitioned the Federal Govt in Henry Co., TN in 1852 for the pension money her mother Phereby would have received had she ever applied for her pension as a widow, for which she did not apply.

I'd appreciate any further info about Absalom and his Rev. War service.

Thank you, Ray
