There seems to be some dispariety between the service record of Dr. David Ramsay (Ramsey) of Charleston, SC with whom he served with in the Revolution. This is the same David that wrote the history of the revolutionary war and of South Carolina. He is reported to have served with the Contential line and then the South Carolina state militia I believe. He was struck from eligibility with the Society of Cincinatti stating he did not serve at least three years with the Contential lines. I'm curious on what the DAR reports for his service record. It's a shame with as many great grandfathers and great uncles that served as officers in the revolution that I have and all but one so far were officers in the SC or NC state militia, not to be eligible for such an organization's membership.
Thanks,
Allen
