Hi Gail,

There is good news and bad news. Christopher has been documented by applicants at DAR, however his service record will have to be redocumented. A Christopher Bewley is on record as deserting in 1777. It may be the same Christopher in which case you would need to document that he served after 1777 or it may be a man with the same name in which case you would need to distinguish between the 2 men.

BEWLEY, CHRISTOPHER Ancestor #: A009834 Notice: FUTURE APPLICANTS MUST PROVE CORRECT SERVICE Birth: 4-6-1756 Death: 8-20-1839 HARDIN CO. KENTUCKY m Nancy Patterson

If you would like a copy of the application with the Patriot's information, you may request a copy from DAR National Headquarters. Please make a check in the amount of $10.00 ( one request per envelope) payable to the Treasurer General, NSDAR. Mail the check along with your patriot's information to:

Library Copy Services, DAR, 1776 D Street NW, Washington, DC 20006-5303.

If any female member of your family is interested in DAR membership, please let us know.
Best of luck with your research. Jenny

This is a free lookup service provided by DAR volunteers at the DAR message board.

Hi,
To follow up I would contact Margie Ann Sanderson, 2013 CR 706, Joshua, Texas, 76058. She has a message listed on Genealogy.com

Also check the book Christopher Bewley and his decendants, 1755-1982. Frankie Jjewell Boyd, 1931 See if your library can get this book for you.

Jan H. Thanks for using the NSDAR message center.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the info. I have a copy of the book you mentioned. Christopher Bewley was my 4th & 5th g-grandfather. Also I live in the same area in KY that he died in.

Hi,
If I can help you in any other way let me know. I have a patriot that the DAR wouldn't accept the source of documentation, so I know how frustrating it can be. Don't give up keep trying.
Jan H.
