Query on what constitutes "Proof"

I would like to know if listings in cemetery surveys that are found on USGENWEB sites would be "proof" or if I must have a photo of a grave to prove the dates.

I also would like to know if the census pages (copies) provided by ancestrydotcom and printed off of that site can be used as proof. I haven't been able to get a clear answer from the women at the local DAR chapter.

It's over two hundred years since the revolution. Families have spread out, and not every one has the family bible. Many "proofs" no longer exist or are accessable to many.

And I just want to know what EXACTLY is acceptable as "proof" besides birth/death certificate copies and family bibles.

Thanks for any response you are able to give.
