In 1833, Drury Hafford was accused of killing James Standley in Hopkins County, Kentucky. The two Hafford brothers had quarreled with Standley, and (while working on road clearing), Drury struck Standley with a hoe and killed him. Later, Drury escaped from jail. His brother (who was to appear in Circuit Court as an "accessory") skipped bail. Nothing further was heard of the two, although the sheriffs of Hopkins and adjacent counties were notified to be on the outlook. Where did the Haffords go? Any further information about this event would be appreciated.

Yes, I have quite a bit of information on the descendents of Drury Hafford. (Hereford) He is my great great grandfather. I am attending a reunion for his descendents tomorrow. It was passed down through our family that the person recovered from the blow to the head. And we never did know his identity. I am anxious to find any court records that exist on this incident. Would appreciate greatly any further information.

Hi Lee! It has been awhile! Hope you are doing good. I would love to have the pdf file about the trouble of our ancestors. By the way, I have done the Ancestry DNA just recently. I am still going thru the list of matching trees. I have found some Hereford/Harford and Hafford matches. It's been alot of fun. Thank you so much for doing this. My email is: snuffridge@att.net
