Surnames: Marshall Eugene Boswell
I am seeking the medical and burial records of Marshall Eugene Boswell, born August 4, 1840 in Rochester, NY. He enlisted in Company A 4th Regiment of Wisconsin Volunteers
at Whitewater, WI on April 25, 1861 and received a disability discharge in Baton Rouge, LA August 24, 1863.

Mr. Boswell suffered from disease contracted during the Civil War as well as alcoholism and opium addiction. His military records indicate that he was a resident of the "Grant County Soldier's Home" in Marion, IN in 1907 other records indicate that he was there in 1912. According to the Indiana State Archives the correct name for this facility is National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers. I don't know whether this was a consecutive stay.

I am interested in records on Mr. Boswell while he was at these military homes, whether he is listed in the Veterans' Graves Registration, and his date of death.

Mr. Boswell is a blacksheep because after being married to my ggrandmother for nearly 30 years and 9 children he married Amorit Homedew Bates (Orton) who had a habit of marrying civil war veterans for their pensions. He forgot to dissolve the marriage to my ggrandmother.

Any help would be appreciated.
