I have a lot of information on Amorit Bates and her family. She was my great great grandmother, the mother of Frank Bates Stone. I have found her in every census from 1850 until her death (As Amorit Boswell) at the Veteran's home in Waupaca County, Wisconsin.
Her son Frank was born in Ozaukee County and she was then Amorit Stone according to the 1860 census. In 1870 she was living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Her husband from the 1860 census was living with his parentsin Waukesha, Wisconsin. Frank was listed at both homes.
She married Brianard Orton a widower in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WIsconsin on 10 September 1876. He died before 1890 as on the Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WIsconsin Directory, 1889-90 Record she is listed as:
Name: Amorit M. Orton (widow Brainerd G.)
I have NO idea where the name Homedew came from or the following:
Amorit Homedew Bates (Orton) who had a habit of marrying civil war veterans for their pensions.
As far as I know Eugene Boswell was the only Civil War veteran that she married. Her death certificate lists her as Amorit Boswell and she is buried at the cemetery at the Veteran's home in King, Wisconsin.
She must have been loved by her son and his family as all of his children were named after her or someone in her family. His first child was even named Brianard! I have done very much on her ancestry and have first hand information of her descendants.
