Hi Jenny, Edith Leah Banfield was born 1891 to Benjamin Banfield and Emma nee Barker who married in 1879. I think Mary Goode may have raised her. There is no divorce recorded for Emma and Benjamin. Mary Goode and Benjamin Banfield never mnarried and all her children were named Goode on the NSW BDM. Emma is a sister of my direct ancestor but she seems to have vanished. On the Trove newspaper website there is a couple of articles re Banfield shooting at Emma with a pistol shortly before they married. The incident was investigated but nothing came of it. On the same website there is an obituary for both Benjamin (1946)and Mary Ann Jane Banfield (1937). Toodles, Bett.
