i am also looking for information regarding "red eagle". i know he was reared near montgomery in the village of coosada, just below the junction of the coosa and tallapoosa rivers. his father, as an agent negotiating with the spanish and americans, became quite popular with the tribesmen as well as very wealthy. he maintained a large plantation with a fine racetrack and was the proud owner of many blooded race horses. he was married three times. about 1801, he married mary moniac, daughter of william moniac and polly corbet, a full-blooded muscoogee indian. of this marriage, three children were born: charles, william and polly. the latter two died in their early teens. no date is rcorded for his second marriage, however, since his first wife died shortly after the birth of their last child, it may be fairly assumed that his second marriage occurred sometime prior to the creek war of 1812. this marriage was to sofoth caney moniac, a cousin of his first wife. this union produced one son, william. following the creek war, william took for his wife, mary stiggens, one-quarter indian of the natchez tribe. by this marriage, five children were born: alexander, washington, major, john, and levitia. the last two died in early childhood. to the best of my knowledge, i believe william was born to sehoy III, a creek indian princess, and charles weatherford, a red-headed scotchman. i would like any information you may have as far down to john wesley weatherford and even later if you have it. we're trying to search our heritage especially at this time for a project my granddaughter is working on in college. my grandparents were john and susan martha weatherford; my parents were elton henderson and mary elvada weatherford. please reply to my e-mail,
