Trying to find information about an ancestor Buntin, full name unknown to me. He is related to my grtgrtgrtgrt grandfather Daniel Buntin from North Carolina who was of the Buntin's that setteld in Kentucky but knew Sam Huston and went to Texas with him, eventually helped found the Texas Rangers and supposed has a portrait hanging in the State Capitol of Texas. A descendant of this Line was the grandmother of Lyndon Baines Johnson and her cabin is said to be preserved at his museum.

I'm a descendant of Daniel Buntin, II who settled in West Tennessee near Jackson.

This according to Albert Murry Buntin, in Jackson Tennessee

Nancy,
It is great to hear from you on my Buntin questions. My cousin Murry Buntin in Jackson, Tennessee has told me about the Buntins in Texas and Rangers. He has also stated that a Buntin was LBJ's grandmother and that her cabin is preserved at an LBJ museum in Texas. I would love to share information with you. I have found some Buntins from the Texas clan here in Oregon. I t seems that some of the Texas Buntins may have moved to Texas from Kentucky.

Daniel Buntin II would have been my grtgrtgrt grandfather. I have information and copies of Tennessee documents pertaining to his estate in Madison County and the division of it to Lydia Mayo Buntin. I aquired them at the Tennesse Room at the Madison County Library. Angeline T. Buntin was my grtgrtgrandmother. She married John M. Hinton about 1872.

Murry has a lot of information but is getting a little frail. He lives on a portion of Daniel's orignal farm lands in Jackson.

Wanna know something? NOONE else knows this except the old man that told me ...Daniel and Lydia are both buried in the woods behind the old Asa Buntin homestead (in Malesus).....the markers are knocked down and almost impossible to find, tho...but any information you want on the Buntins here I can get for you....also, did you know there is a Buntin buried beside the Hermitage in Nashville? Andrew Jackson's wife supposedly died before he could take office so he got his neice or someone to fill the position and she was a Buntin....the next time I go to Gatlinburg Ill check it out. But any info you have I'd like to have....I probably have some of it....but you may the parts Im missing.

Very interesting information on the burial sites. I'll compare that to what we have. I do know that the old Buntin graveyard in Madison County at Andrews Chapel holds many old graves. According to Murry Buntin the exact location is unknown. His history is recorded on line and has a link through Madison County Historical records. There are some minor errors in it I think.

I will forward your information to Murry. Hope to hear more from you soon.

Well, its been a couple of years when I caught up with organizing old corespondence on the Buntins. Murry has died in Jackson two years ago. I'm still hungry for information on the Buntins and the Texas Rangers. I visited the old plantation lands two months ago. alos interested in other families around Jackson near Huntersville, like the L.B.Sheltons and John M.Hinton. I'm convinced that some Hintons lived with families there after the parents died. Their names (parents) are not known to me, but my grandfather has told us his grtgrandfather was Hugh and came from Alabama to Jackson, TN.

Hi Nancy, I would appreciate any info you have on the Buntin family. Daniel Buntin II was my 3rd great grandfather. His grandson James Harry Buntin is who I am researching in particular, and his wife Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Carmack Buntin, 10/19/1902. I cannot find any information on her other than their marriage record. No birth, no death, no cemetery, no parents. Do you have any of this info?

And any other info you have would also be appreciated. Thanks!
