My great-great grandfather was a stone mason, just like his father before him. I don't know much about his father and nothing about his grandfather, not even his name. But I thought if his grandfather was also a stone mason perhaps there was a union or something of stone masons that maybe would have some information about them that I could look up - find out if he apprenticed under his father or something - maybe I could find out his name and where exactly he was from, that sort of thing.
Does anyone know anything about this field? When I google stone masons most of the results are about freemasons and secret societies and the rest of the results are all about English and Scottish mason societies back in the Middle Ages. I'm trying to find Albert Fuller from NY or MA who was born in 1821 and practiced stone masonry in Western PA. So his father, if he too was a stone mason, would've been practicing in NY or MA and maybe PA too, I don't know, right at the turn of the 19th century.
Thanks for the help.
