I am interested to know where the leather would come from for shoemakers in early-mid 19th century Yorkshire. Did we have tanneries or would it be imported? Someone else asked about apprenticeships but there were no replies. I would be interested in any information on how the trade was learned. I have an ancestor listed as Shoemaker or Cordwainer. Thanks.
