I am descended from shoemakers in Glasgow, Scotland, all members of the Guild of Cordiners:
John JOHNSTON, died before 1776
William ROBERTSON, married Agnass JOHNSTON 1752
John GENTLE, b abt 1752, married Janet ROBERTSON 1777, died 1823

John GENTLE was deacon of the Guild of Cordiners 1808-1809.

I have an index to the members of the Guild of Cordiners and would be happy to do any lookups.

Would it be possible for you to have a look to see if you have any Mundells from Dumfries on your list of Cordwainers please?
Between 1700-1800 if possible.
Many Thanks

No, sorry. No Keegan.

By the 1840s membership in the guild was no longer necessary to make and sell shoes in Glasgow.

Jane,

I just saw your listing offering lookups for shoemakers. If it is not too much trouble and you are still doing it could you look up the following three people. All three were shoemakers in Glasgow in the early 1800's. They are Robert Munn, Thomas Munn and William Munn. I know Robert and Thomas were brothers and I would not be surpised if William was connected too.

Thank you very much.

Al Munn

Al - sorry, no MUNNs at all. I tried all variations I could think of. In fact, I looked at all the Ms and all the Ns. The closest I can find is a McMUNN James, entered the guild 18 Sep 1777. Jane

Jane,
If you still have the facility to look up this guild I am looking for Daniel McGregor and James Weston. They would be early 1800's. Thanks, Deb

Deb - No WESTONs, but I am emailing you a scan of the page with MCGREGORs. I don't see a match, but you might recognize something. I hope so.
