SHOEMAKERS were highly regarded as skilled craftsmen in the 1800s and commanded a respectable position in society. Here are some Storeys from my research.....

26th May 1850 Hugh Stoey (rpt Stoey) (SHOEMAKER) emigrated to the U.S. aboard the ship Dewitt-Clinton ex Liverpool
13th Nov. 1865 Margaret Storey was born to Henry Storey (Shoemaker)& Margaret Collins - County Antrim
16th Nov 1863 Mary Storey (aged 30) daughter of Michael Storey (SHOEMAKER), married William Mahood (30) in County Antrim.
1855-60 Griffiths Valuation lists Henry Story (SHOEMAKER)
living at 44 Main Street, Swanlinbar, County Cavan.
13th Sept 1867 DEATH of Robert Storey (16 mths) listed as "SHOEMAKER's child - John Storey & his wife Ruth Clayton of Banbridge, County Down.
9th July 1850 Mary Storey, daughter of John Storey of Carlow, married James Quinlan (SHOEMAKER)
