Hi Lois! I periodically check back in regarding your Great Grand Uncle, Broncho Charlie Miller. I continue to research the collection we purchased, and at times put it on the back burner, because, frankly, it can be too addictive! He is fascinating. Have you found any additional information about him being a buffalo hunter since we have last communicated? I would love to have more information about this part of his life. I'm assuming he was involved in the railroad expansion into Montana at this point, as it would fit the time-line and the winter gear in the collection. I'd love any additional information any other readers / researchers can add to this! Thanks, Bonnie

Photograph of Bronco Charlie B Miller including note handwritten by Bronco Charlie Miller regarding such photograph.
Also attached is a letter from the Wells Fargo Bank Vice Pres regarding this particular photograph. Loaned to me by Mr O'Neill to scan for your interest. Mr O'Neill's father a banker at the NY Chase bank introduced his 9 or 10 yr old son Robert O'Neill to Bronco Charlie Miller. With Bronco Charlies grey hair tucked under his hat and wearing chaps showed Robert the scar on his arm from being hit by an arrow that was being aimed at Bronco Charlie Miller while on a Pony Express ride. Bronco Charlie was said to riding on the side of his horse away from the indians blocking himself from the arrows. This was told to me by Robert O'Neill. Robert also loaned me the book entitled "Pony Express-The Great Gamble"
Enjoy, Best Regards, Karen Helwig

Lois, I ran across an old picture of Charlie Miller in some old family photos, appears to be from the 20's or 30's. Inscribed on the back it gives his name and that he was an old scout and friends of Buffalo Bill. I matched the picture with some other pictures of Charlie that are online. I am unsure why this picture is in my old family photo's unless someone just me him along the way.
