You can research the Illinois 1900 and 1910 census records at a local LDS FHL (Latter Day Saint Family History Library). To find one in your area, go to
www.familysearch.org and click in the third column (on the far right). There also may be a genealogical library near you which would have the Illinois census records.
If you're not familiar with the LDS FHL on your first visit you will order the film for the census. When the library receives the microfilm, they will contact you and you can review the film at their facility.
You can also order a search from the Illinois State Archives...but it will take about three months to receive a reply. If I can find the web site, I will e-mail it to you.
Am not sure if you can request Canal or census information from the Lockport library, but it's worth a try....the Reference Librarian is Andrea Zoelle and the e-mail address I have for her is:
azoelle@htls.lib.il.us The library's FAX 815-838-9131.
I believe the Newberry Library will also reply to requests, but there is a fee. Their website is
