John F. Jackson and a Georgia tannery

John F. Jackson and a Georgia tannery

I am told that my brick wall, John F. Jackson, worked at a tannery somewhere near Walton Co., GA, during the time of the Civil War. They made saddles, harnesses, etc., for the Confederate troops. I have reason to believe, though, that it was not in that county but maybe in a neighboring county...Gwinnett, Jackson, Barrow, Oconee, Clarke, etc. I have left postings on different county sites but have not had any response. I'm trying to track down where the tannery was in order to find out more about John F. Jackson. I know almost nothing about him or his ancestry...have plenty on his descendants, though. Thank you for any help you can give. June in GA

There was a tannery called Kings Tanyard in Barrow.
There was most likely one in Clarke Co. (unknown)
There was a Tanyard in Gwinnett known as the Glover Tannery.
Good Luck
Dan.
