Im trying to put my family tree together and Im hoping you might be able to shed some light, Im trying to tract down Michael Phillips, born 1833-1837, fathers name Patrick, they immigrated ,or maybe he just immigrated to Scotland,he was married in glasgow (address shows West Russell St.)1866, to Bridget McLachlan also from Ireland , they lived in Pleasance St , renfrewshire , 1881 Cenus. Having great difficulty finding out where in Ireland they came from. Thank you for any hints you might be able to pass on .

There are about a dozen Patrick Philips listed in Griffith's Valuation c 1850s. Some are duplicated,so that narrows it down to: 2 in Cavan, 5 in Mayo. 2/3 in Louth. I haven't looked into it in any detail,so some of these might also be duplicated. I can give you more details if you think it might help. Cathy

I have a feeling I may have seen Jackson in the coastguard records for Galway and there was a Lachan McLachan in that area whose family also may have had coastguard links. Check the coastguard book online at uk national archives.
