Sello Bros. Circus - Billboard 1943
My grandfather Charles LaBird is listed in the company of the Sello Bros. Circus. Billboard posts Dr. O. R. Bible as the owner. This show played in Eastern Virginia and Carolinas, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New york and Ohio. Surely there is someone out there somewhere who knew of them.

My Grandfather was O.Roy Bible, and my Mother knows a little about the circus as she traveled with them one summer. I would like any information that you might have.

Re: Sello Bros. Circus - Billboard 1943
I have been researching for months. My most reliable sources have been CHS Circus Historical Society and Billboard Magazine Archives. I am compiling a chronological geneology record to try and put the pieces of the circus puzzle together. I hope to contact CHS soon for their assistance. I will forward any info to you that may help you in your search. I have not found any photos of Charles LaBird, Sr. or O.Roy Bible but I have been able to track some of their circus travels together.

Re: Sello Bros. Circus - Billboard 1943
Thank you. I would be happy with any information you have. Roy Bible was my Grandfather, but I never knew him. My Grandmother and he split up when my Mother was very young, and he remairred. My Mother has some memorries of spending the summer travel with the Circus. I am going to visit her next week and will ask her what she can recall.

Re: Sello Bros. Circus - Billboard 1943
The wife of O Roy Bible is only referred to as Mrs. Bible. This was common practice because my grandmother was the ticket taker and was always referred to as Mrs. LaBird. There was a performer with Sello named Ruth Roy. I wonder if this is Mrs. Bible? Researching circus family takes determination because it is so complicated. I have no living relatives willing to share information. I plan to continue until I have filled in as many gaps as possible. Thank you for contacting me.

Re: Sello Bros. Circus - Billboard 1943
Thank you for the link. I thought I had seen them all but this one has more detail than some of the Billboard articles referencing Charles LaBird. I have traced the LaBird name all the way back to circus articles written in the New York Clipper in 1898. I still can't find anybody who has a personal collection of photos and memorabilia on him.

I am interested in any information you find regarding Roy Bible. I have come across his name in a research project and have been searching for anything I can learn about him. It looks like I'm not the only one! I hope we all find what we're looking for!

I still have so many mysteries of my own that are unsolved regarding Sello Brothers. I follow several circus blogs and historical sites and will let you know if I find a link that will help you. I commend you on your work to name the unknown grave. I have several ancestors that I have not been able to locate. Good luck with your search.
