I am trying to find a record for John Watson that will give me his dependents names. This is what information I have about him so far. I have the service record that lists the ships he was on from 24 May 1794 until 1814. He became a Comm. on 15 June 1814 and was aboard the Aggressor. I have also ordered his Lieutenant's passing certificate (1794). What records would be best for me to find out his wife's name and his children? I believe he is Captain John Watson who died in Milford Haven, Wales in 1842. Thank you for your assistance.

This seems to indicate that you are looking for Royal Navy records rather than Merchant Navy? If so, google Royal Navy Records.
